Following months of silence on AT&T's part regarding an upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC for its SX56 Phone Edition device, there is finally good news for owners of this particular wireless handheld. Siemens has made available an update to offering the numerous enhancements found in the latest version of Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform, such as the e-mail address suggestion feature, signatures, auto-correct, call barring, SMS character counter, Windows Media Player 9, improved Pocket Internet Explorer and much more.

The update will bring the version number of the Siemens SX56 ROM up to version A.30.09, and is available as a free download from the web site of Siemens' Mobile division.
